CHAPTER Seventeen- PRINCIPLES OF DIVINE MANAGEMENT - Part -1

"Based on the lectures by Sri Bimal Mohanty"

PREAMBLE - In our series of Spiritual Approach to life we shall now take up this subject of Principles of Divine Management.

The title sounds like a business management topic. In one manner of speaking it is. However you might ask what relevance has this to our satsang or religious discussion? This we should clarify in the beginning. I can give at least three reasons.

Firstly it is a matter of relationship between the devotee, the bhakta and his Lord . When we love someone and love sincerely then every characteristic of His becomes of interest to us. We wish to know even the smallest details about our object of love. A mother is ever eager to know what her child does, how he does, what are his likes, what annoys him, what work he does and what not. A friend, if he values his friendship tries to find out all that his friend stands for - what pleases him what does not. A diciple or sishya tries to find out how the mind of his teacher works so as to be able to serve him better. No aspect is irrelevant in the matter of love. Every minutest detail brings pleasure to the mind. This is the nature of love. If one truly loves he loves the path his or her beloved walks on, if not then the love is incomplete. Something is holding back. These enquiry of every aspect of the object of love is essential to keep the light of love burning.

And love happens to be the anchor point for God realisation A sadhaka constantly tests himself -how deep is the love for my lord, is the intensity waning? As he questions himself on this his mind dwells more and more on every aspect of The Lord. That is again the nature of a Jingyasu. Lord says about the four catagories of devotion - Jingyasu is one of them. Jingyasa strengthens sadhana. When your mind finds pleasure in questioning and wanting to know everything about the Lord , know that the Lord has taken you under his control. That is why many subjects which on the face of it appear peripheral to the methods or so called ABC's of sadhana are really great aids that help a sadhaka. Anything that you enquire which is connected with the Lord is a help and makes sadhana easier.

And the beauty of the matter is that there is absolutely no end to the topics about the Lord. Remember that Bhajan : If the waters of the entire ocean turns out to be writing ink, if all the trees turn out to be writing pens and the entire sky becomes the paper to write on, it still will not be adequate to write all about the Lord.

So you see, if one becomes a jingyasu and goes on enquiring every aspect of the Lord, you have material that will last not one life time, not two lives but many many lives to come.
